Mawei represents the beautiful convergence of two worlds.
Founder Wei Ma's upbringing in Shanghai, surrounded by Chinese tradition and Western influence, combined with her life on Norway's south coast near the pristine Hvaler archipelago, creates a unique perspective. This landscape of sea, light, and wind, paired with her passion for cashmere, has inspired garments that embody both the warmth of her heritage and the clarity of Scandinavian design. Each piece is designed and crafted to deliver versatility and timelessness, with sustainability at its core. Mawei implies passion, integrity, and self-awareness. Its unique identity is inspired by the traditional Chinese signature stamp - yinzhang, which dates back more than 3600 years. The stamp is reinterpreted by partner and brand designer Bjørn Rybakken through a clean style and thoughtful contrasts, reflecting both cultural heritage and contemporary clarity.
